Both civil services and IES are differnt exams and if you appear for both of them then they will be counted as one attempt for civil and one attempt for IES differently..
They don't have any interference in each other..
hi,
IES exam stands for Indian engineering service which is conducted by UPSC.
IES exam consist three stages;-
>>>>CSAT(PRELIMINARY EXAM
>>>>MAINS EXAM
>>>INTERVIEW
PRELIMS EXAM IS SAME FOR ALL CIVIL SERVICES EXAM THAT IS CALLED CIVIL SERVICES APTITUDE TEST(CSAT)/.
therefore, it will be counted as one times for you.

hi
there is no relevance in the number of attempts in the IAS and IES exams.
They both have a different specific number of attempts count. If you have given both the exams for the first time then it will be counted as your first attempt only in each of the respective examinations.
No not at all.Your attempt will be counted separately for each exams.Yours will be counted as 1 attempt for civil services and 1 attempt for IES.You will have 3 attempts left for each of the exams separately i.e. 3 for CS and 3 for IES considering you are from General category. If you are from reserved category you will have more attempts depending upon your category
UPSC Civil services Exams and UPSC Indian Engineering services exams are totally different exams.
Both has different eligibilty criteria
If you give the UPSC Civil services Prelims Exams only one time, it will be counted as one attempt only
Even if you give the IES exams it will not be counted as attempt under UPSC Civil Services Exams.
In the UPSC Civil services Exams below are the attempts allowed for each candidates:
>> General- 4 times
>> OBC-7 times
>> SC/ST- No restriction on number of attempts
Also note that there is no criteria s number of attempts in the Indian engineering services exams.
So you can apply to that exams as many times as you want till the time you meet the education and age criteria
Number of Attempts Allowed for UPSC exams
General Category Candidates - 4 times only
OBC Category Candidates - 7 times only
Scheduled Caste Candidates - No Limitation but till 35 years of age
Scheduled Tribe Candidates - No Limitation but till 35 years of age
Ex-Servicemen Candidates - No Limitation but till 35 years of age
Dear if have applied for any examination of UPSC as civil service and engineering service one time for each then your one attempt would be counted and there is no matter that you get passed in that exam or get failed means if you appear for examination that means you have used your one reserved attempt which is allowed by UPSC board according to the government norms
Dear if you prepare well for examination then you should not care about attempts you have used you should only care about examination and only about your preparation because confidents does not care about anything until they get the success so that you also have to be confident about your preparation for exam and go for examination
If you get the help and support of any experienced person who have already cracked this examination then you must ask for help and if possible then go to any coaching because in coaching institutes you will get some experienced and successful category candidates and teachers those who will help you out in your preparation and will tell you complete strategy that how to prepare and how to get success so that you should follow them and give at least 12 hours everyday for preparation and if you will cover your syllabus and and practice well before examination then you will also fee confidence in your heart and will not care about any attempt
All the best
Dear Friend
No not at all ,Civil services examination and Indian Engineering services examinations are the two different entrance examinations conducted by the Union Public service commission.
Both the examinations have different educational requirement, bachelor's degree in engineering /technology for the IES and bachelor's degree in any stream for the Civil services examinations.
Final year candidates of bachelor's degree are allowed to appear for the exam.
The age limitations for the both IES and civil services examinations are same:
General:21-30 years
Obc:21-33 years
SC/ST:21-35 years.
Now coming to your query about the no of attempts, the no of attempts for both the examinations are same as like age criteria:
General:4
ObC:7
SC/ST:no limit during age limit.
Friend ,it is not that if you appear for the IES and civil services examinations in same year then your two attempts will be over.It will be counted as one attempt for the IES and one for the civil services examinations.
Hope the information provided by me will definitely help you in solving your confusion.
all the best.
