friend it is individually depends at you that how much time you take to crack the civil service exam.

some candidates crack the exam in first attempts and some cracks after 2 or 3 attempts and several are who is unable to crack the CSE.

it is depends upon your hard work an dedication.

if you do study under guidance and in proper way.

UPSC Civil Services Exam(CSE) is conducted every year to make recruitments to 24 services/posts.
CSE is one of the toughest and most competitive exam at the All India Level.

CSE is conducted in 3 Stages :

1.Prelims/CSAT Exam-is conducted to shortlist candidates for the Mains exam.
It consists of 2 papers General syudies and total marks is 400 marks.

2.Mains Exam-is conducted to check the indepth knoweledge and intellegence of the candidates.
It consists of 9 papers and total marks 2000 marks.two optional subjects have to be made here.

3.Interviews-is conducted to test the personality of candidates.It consists of 300 marks.

It takes anthing between 6 moths to year for candidates to prepare for Prelims and Mains exam of CSE.
It depends upon the candidates efforts and intellect whether one clears the CSE in the First attempt or more attempts.
So a candidate can clear the CSE in a years time or more to become an IAS Officer.
Proper focussed preparation and hard work is required,time management is required.
Prepare for Prelims and Mains Exam simultaneously,becoz there is very little time between CSAt results and Mains Exam.

REMEMBER that the no.of attempts are limited to 4 times for general category candidates,for OBC candidates it is 7 times
and for SC/ST candidates it is unlimited times.

Age limit for candidates appearing for CSE is :

General Category-21-30yrs on 1st August of the year of exam
OBC-21-33yrs
SC/ST-21-35yrs

same here i want to say that some students passed this exam in first attempts and some after 3 attempts.

If you are really serious about your preparation for this civil service exam for IAS Post then you will not take too much time to become an IAS officer but the procedure to become an IAS officer is also not too long means it will take about 1 and half year for final result of selected candidates in interview process :

There are three steps in the complete procedure of becoming an IAS Officer in India :

1. Preliminary Exam : This would be a prelims exam which would be in same format in all over India at once and it contains 2 different objective type papers which are conducted for 400 marks and qualifying in this exam is most necessary and unfortunately if you could not clear this exam then you would not be allowed to appear for mains examination.

2. Mains Examination : This would be a mains examination after qualifying the prelims and you will have to clear 7 different descriptive type papers which contains complete 2000 marks and qualifying in this exam is also necessary to reach to the interview process.

3. Interview Process : This would be your last step to become an IAS Officer in India and it contains 300 marks for complete process and if you qualify this then you can become an IAS Officer of India.

To qualify all processes you will have to study hard and give at least 15-16 hours everyday for your study only then you will be eligible to appear for mains exam and take some different coaching institutes and get different types of educational experience in your life and study more and more about the India and the world then you would be a knowledge-full person and you will get confidence for face interview process and you will have to work hard for a long time and you will take almost two years to become an IAS Officer.

It is totally on the student how much time it will take the clear the exam

There are examples in which many candidates clear the exam in the very first attempt.

If a person sits with full confidence then he can also crack the exam in first attempt

dear at least 1 year will it take to clear UPSC exam n become an IAS officer bcoz for this exam you will have to clear three stage.

1. Prelims exam
2. Mains exam
3. Interview

In above stage distance between 4-5 months so, clear this exam according to your time period or study.
