No it is not necessary because NDA-I & NDA-II are so named because they are conducted twice a year by UPSC otherwise both the exams are same. If you have appeared for NDA-I & got selected you need not appear for NDA-II. But if you are not selected & you want to try again then you can apply for it.

there is no need to appear in the nda exam 2 because both the exam are same and are held by the upsc twice in a year. In other words the pattern of the paper, selection process all are same.
The upsc conduct this exam two times in a year that's why it is called nda 1 and nda 2 exam.

No it is not necessary that one should appear in both exam , if one is selected in NDA-1 exam then there are no require to apper for the NDA-2 exam it is just for those who fail the exam in NDA-1 or for others who appear first time . So that if you are selected then you do not apply for the exam .
NO, they are separate exams for separate entry courses. upsc bi-annually conducs NDA twice in a year for the courses started in the month of january& july of subsequent years.
that's why examination are named as I & II , so pupil don't confused when notification again come in the same year.
so, being selected for one mean's you are eligible to appear for that course starting in said month, However you can again fill it to reappear for next batch entry if won't selected in attempted one.

National Defense Academy and Naval Academy Examination (NDA/NA) is held twice a year by upsc.
NDA I and NDA II
it is not necessary to appear for NDA II after appearing for NDA I.
if you think that you are not fully prepared for the NDA II examination then you can leave it .
but be sure that the number of attempts are limited for this exam.

Minimum Qualification to required to join NDA Examination is that you must have a 10+2 School Education or Equivalent qualification of a recognized School and No Minimum marks required for National Defence Academy Examination .
