Sorry to say that it is not possible for anyone to join the National defense academy without clearing the entrance examinations conducted by the UPSC for this academy which has following eligibility criteria:
1.Academic qualification:10+2 from a board that is recognized .You are appearing for 10+2 examinations then also you a re eligible for the examinations.
2.Age limit : 16.5 to 19 years
3.Nationality ; only Indian
4.Martial status: Unmarried
5.Sex ; male candidates only.
6.You must be physically fit.
So if you are interested in joining the NDA then the registration for the NDA 2 in 2013 will start from : 04/05/2013.You can apply for this examination at www.upsconline.nic.in.If you fulfill the eligibility criteria.

It is not possible without appearing UPSC exam you can join NDA for this you will have to give NDA exam through UPSC. Firstly fill online application n give exam. After exam when your name will come in merit list then you can join NDA otherwise not.

All candidates aspiring to join the NDA must appear in the UPSC Exam.
Although there is exception to this rule for NCC certificate holders i.e.10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme.
This is a Special Entry scheme for NCC cadets with C certification.

Eligibility Criteria
Indian Military : Must have passed in class 12th in any discipline from a recognized board
Indian Navy and Air Force : Must have passed in class 12th with mathematics and physics as a compulsory subject
Age of the candidate should not be less than 16.5 years and more than 19 years
Examination Pattern for NDA Examination : There would be following papers conducted in objective type pattern
1. Mathematics - 300 marks
2. General Ability Test - 600 marks
Total marks alloted for both papers - 900 and qualifying in each and every single subject is necessary for every candidate and if you get selected in the written examination then you would be called for interview process under SSB Board which is following

UPSC conducta NDA exam for entrance in NDA.There is no other exam to enter in NDA.So without taking nda exam one cannot get admission in NDAa.This is the minimum eligibility criteria for NDA exam:- Candidate should be 12th class pass/ appearing in 12th class. Without appearing in UPSC NDA Exam, you can't join National Defence Academy, Pune.
You will have to appear for NDA Exam anyhow to be admitted to NDA.
According to Eligibility Criteria of NDA Exam,
>> Only Unmarried Male Candidates can apply for this exam.
>> Age of the candidate must lie between 16.5 to 19 years.
>> You must be 10+2 passed/appearing from any stream.
Note that, if you don't have Physics and Mathematics in 10+2, then you are allowed to apply for Army wing of NDA only.

Let me tell you that,NDA exam is itself conducted by the UPSC.The NDA is conducted by the UPSC ,in fact the entrance exam is conducted by the UPSC.
After the entrance,there is a SSB(Selection Service Board) interview, and then the medical fitness.
The later two stages are not conducted by the UPSC,but are conducted by the respective wings of the defence sectors,but the common entrance test is conducted by the UPSC.
Hence the exam is conducted by the UPSC ,appearing for the NDA means appearing for the UPSC only.

I think you need to get cleared about the facts of upsc and upsc exams.
NDA is the exam which is conducted by the union public service commission UPSC. And there is yet another exam upsc civil services exam which is also conducted by the upsc.
And there is no relation in both the exams. If you want to give the NDA exam you need to fill the criteria that you should be in class 12th or have cleared class 12th while giving the NDA exam and your age should be in between 16.5-19 years of age.
