Dear friend ,
it must be your priority to choose the subject which is very strong for you and you have faith in yourself about the subject
that you can do better with that subject in the examination .
the upsc releases its notification for the civil services examination every year and in the notification for the examination there is a list
of subjects are given for the convenience of candidates in selecting the choices for optional subjects.
the list of the subjects are as under , you can choose any two subjects for your optional subjects.
choices for optional subjects:-

but if you are an engineer and want to advice in selection of subjects than i advise you to select mathematics and history because engineers have the command on mathematics and history have very short syllabus so you can easily cover it .
so you should take right decision because your preparation full depends on your decision and your decision are affect your future .

Now you have to choose anyone subject from the list to appear for two optional subject papers in main examination which contains 250 marks each and passing in both papers is compulsory so you will have to study hard for this subject and to score higher marks and as you are from B.Tech IT stream so I would like to suggest you to choose any one of the - Civil Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering as your optional subject and if you do not want to select anyone of them then you have the right to select any subject as per your choice so mostly you must prefer - Geography or History or Political Science and International Relations and if your mathematics is good then select this subject so you could score good marks and pass examination
