    Hi,

If you are a B.tech student let me know your core subject? Optional subject depends on your interest. Exam is not as you think of your B.Tech IAS exam needs more mental ability part. all the best for your exam...

Re: How to choose optional subjects for IAS mains exam? I am a B.Tech graduate.

    Dear Aspirant,
~Selection of the two optional subjects is a very BiG DeaL for the Civil Service Mains examinations conducted by the UPSC.It carries a lots of marks and plays a vital role in determining the final result.
~~Selecting the Optional Subjects does not necessarily mean choosing your graduation subjects. You are allowed to choose any subject which features among the list of optional subjects.
~~You must take care that you have complete knowledge and interest in the subjects you choose.Theirs Detailed study is necessary.
~~Personally,I would recommend you to choose one of the two optional subjects from your course studies. You have Civil Engineering,Mechanical Engineering and Physics to choose from. You can choose the one you are best at,because the syllabus won't be completely new to you and the preparations would be relatively easier.
~~As for the second optional subject,I would recommend you to opt and Prepare for an ARTS SUBJECT.The subjects such as the INDIAN HISTORY,PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION and GEOGRAPHY have had higher success rates compared to other subjects. They are even highly scoring
ALSO,the arts subjects form the core area of the preliminary exams.Hence this will help you for dual preparations.
~~Its uptown you to take the final call and decide the best for yourself.
    Good Luck!!

Geography or sociology should be the options for you.
These subjects will be tougher for you but no other way.
The preliminary or the CSAT has a vommon pattern of examination for all.
You must be a graduate from a government recognized college for becoming eligible for the same.

    upsc.jpg

    Hi Aspirant

Upsc is conducting the civil services exam

Every year for the posts like IAS And the IPS Officer

IAS : Stands for the Indian Administrative Services

IPS : Stands for the Indian Police Service

And for the exam here is the qualifications Required:

-The candidate should be pass in graduation from a recognized indian university

-The age should be between 21-30

-Their will be relaxation given to the reserve category

-Relaxation given to the obc category candidates of 3 years

-Relaxation given to the sc.st category candidates of 5 years

And as from the point of choosing the optional subjects

Better would be to choose the optional subjects your self rather than us

Because simply we don't know which of your subjects is your favourate and which

Subject you like and in which subjects you are strong

So choose the subjects that you like

    Best of luck
