    Dear Aspirant
As you describe your position,u must suggest you that you have to
continue your MTECH,as you passed two semesters of MTECH and by
end of third semester, you thesis starts which means no more classroom
study and not so much pressure of study.
And in spite of this IAS exam is in Next year and.it is held in Last week of May,you can start preparing for it from now and take to it seriously in the
    Dec end.
If you study for IAS only three months, then it is enough to clear it.but you have to focus on current affairs from now.
so that you must read "The Hindu" Newspaper

As IAS is your Passion so you may choose IAS

    But i suggest that
1st you complete your M.Tech or at the last year of M.Tech you apply for IAS exam
in 2nd years there is less pressure as practicals classes are more in schedule so
you can manage to work with IAS and M.Tech both

Prepare well to score good in IAS

    good luck

    hi, friend.

    >> just be involve with your passion and dreams.

    >> And it is not necessary that you have to take coaching you can do it with yourself also.

    >> just continue your M.tech and start prepare for IAS also.

    >> you need to do smart preparation and best dedication for your dream.

    >> just read all NCERT books of std 5th to 12.

    >> and all general studies magazine and new paper and all.

    >> your 3 to 4 hrs of preparation for IAS is enough for you.

    >> i hope you have got me.

    >> All the very best

Re: Please help. Should I continue M.Tech or take IAS coaching (which is my passion)?

    hi dear,

it seems that you are not comfortable with M.Tech. and you already have wasted so much on that. and you only want to be IAS officer. SO i will advice you to don't waste your important time on doing your M.Tech. and about your father make him understand that your are not comfortable wit M.tech and It is just wastage of your time and money.

and i will also advice you that IAS is not an easy exam. it is one of the toughest exam. you have to prepare hard for exam. and you need to fully concentrate on the exam.

for IAS you need graduation degree in any discipline from recognized college or university with any percentage. for IAS you have to write Civil Services Exam.the exam is conducted by UPSC every year. final year students of graduation can also apply for the exam.

for the exam your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. There is also available relaxation in upper age limit according to government norms as 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Civil Services exam is conducted in three phases and you have to clear all the phases to become an IAS officer.
The three phases are CSAT(Prelims), Mains and Interview

Civil Services exam constitutes three parts:
    1. CSAT(Prelims)
    2. Mains
    3. Interview

there is also applicable limit of number of attempts like 4 for General, 7 for OBC and there is no limit of number of attempts for SC/ST candidates.

UPSC provide the facility to apply for the exam online. to fill application form online visit

    Good Luck......

Re: Please help. Should I continue M.Tech or take IAS coaching (which is my passion)?

    Dear Aspirant

I understand your situation. Frankly speaking I have seen many queries on this forum but your are the one whose problem look really genuine to me.That why after reading your question I decided to write something which is of worth importance in your life. Please take some moments after reading my solutions I am not writing it as a fun

See the first thing you focused on your study. In today's world your interest & passion all will come to you.Believe me you are going to get enough time to prepare well for civil service examination in order to become an IAS but first complete your study as it is not your passion and you are 3rd semester that means only two semester are left.Your father having no problem of paying money and he is ready to bear the expense then why do you not focused on your study.Believe me the way you are making fun of your life you will be at no place except lamenting on yourself.Don't waste your time

Do you think IAS prepartaion is easy and it is free of cost. You will need good study material, good guidance, hostel facility how will you manage all these things.Your father will have to pay.Oh I know you might by thinking by tuition you will earn all these then how will you focus on your study for Civil services. You more energy will be drained out teachings those fellow.

So completes your M.Tech first if you really want to help your father. Then get a job or better join any university start teaching there and you know very well that is the place where you have to work less and earn more money. Then after few months of working you take your preparation in stages. It is not necessary that you study 8-9 hours of study then only you qualify civil service Your start your preparation stage wise.First 4-5 months prepare for prelims dedicating 2 hours a day as per your time convenience. In this way you will have your life secured as well as you will work towards achieving your dreams IAS.But one thing I would like to say don't do M.Tech as sake of doing do it such that your life become self sufficent in order to pursue your dreams.

    All the best
