But UPSC conducts separate exam for giving jobs in defense sector.Since you are an undergraduate student so you can be selected either through University selection procedure conducts by Indian army or through giving CDS because there is no post available you may see for Indian Air Force in lists of services given by UPSC.

    Dear Aspirant
You want to join Air Force as menhanical Engineer..
for this I must say that IES is not right exam, because you are not
eligible for Air force after clearing in IES exam..
because Airforce.select mechanical.engineer on its own exam or
    through NDA...
    All The Best...

    Hello

    IES-Indian Engineering Services Exams.

    Qualification-Engineering degree in any stream.
    Branches to be applied
    1)Mechanical Engineering
    2)Civil Engineering
    3)Electronics and Communication Engineering
    4)Electrical Engineering

IES is for engineering services, but not for defence services.
No connection bet ween defence and IES services.

    Both are separate identities.
One can not get in air force through IES.

    Air Force have three entries
    1)National Defence Academy-Intermediate entry
    2)Combined Defence Service Examination-Graduate entry
3)Air Force Common Admission Test-Graduate entry.
