Dear actually when you apply for UPSC Civil Service Examination and Register under Part I of the registration form so you get a auto generated registration number provided by the UPSC board and this registration number will be displayed on webpage when you submit your details of Part I registration and you will also get a confirmation Email from the board about application of this examination
If you qualify UPSC ICS Preliminary Examination then you will be allowed to appear for main examination and to apply for main examination, you must have your registration number that you would have received while applying for Preliminary Examination and you will be allowed to apply for main examination only after entering correct registration number with your other details as Date of Birth etc. and if you have lost then you will not be approved to apply for main examination
As you have mentioned that you have forgot or lost your registration ID of the registration of civil service preliminary examination so first of all before getting frustrated and pressured about main examination, you should try to find out some good ways that could help you in getting you registration number back and if you get failed in getting that detail back that you need to worry but there are some ways which are really helpful to take your registration number back
* First of all you should not worry and log in to your Email ID because UPSC board sends confirmation Email to every aspirant who apply for any examination related to UPSC and visit at only that Email ID which you have provided in application form and find out all Emails related to UPSC exams and you may use search bar to find out that Email of Indian Civil Service Examination and get your registration number and I am sure that you will get it very easily
* Second way is that if you could not get your registration number then you should not worry and just start finding application form of UPSC CS Preliminary Examination that you would have printed as a hard copy after registration because registration number is always printed with the application form so you may get your registration number on the printout of application form of Indian Civil Service Prelims exam
* If you find yourself unable to get your registration number back then you should find out admit card/ hall ticket/ roll number/ examination ticket because registration number and roll number of examination both are printed on roll number also so you may get your registration number from that way
* You may also find out roll number or application form in the storage of data in your computer because may be that you would have saved data related to your examination and forgot so you should try to find out details in your own computer too so you can get your registration number and may apply for main examination
* You may also contact to the administrators and other officers and exam controllers of UPSC board who are responsible to control examination and may request them to solve your issue or you download attached official telephone directory and try to contact to the board and get your details back
I have explained all possible ways to get your registration ID back please follow
All the best
