HI everyone,I was just wondering what is the minimum number of questions one must aim to attempt to clear the prelims and is it possible that someone can attempt even 90% of the exam correctly (given the current scenario)?

hi,
it does not depend upon how many number of question attempts.
it depends upon that what is cut off marks/wise of that exam.
in other words how many students works good or bad.
lets suppose higher marks is x, then it may could that ir does not depend upon the attempting question.
it may be say x will be higher or lower previous year higher/lower marks.
therefore attempts those question in which you have full confidence.
never think about attempting question..
work hard and does not think about result.
thank you....................................

It is depending on the combined merit list, and then declares the cut off marks.
If you want to go to the mains exam then at least 70-80% question is right.
Exam notification is declared by the upsc.
Preliminary exam is held in the month of the May.
Age limit for the exam is the 21 to 30 years.
Age relaxation for the reserve category.
Best of luck
