Dear before preparing for any competitive exam, you should have enough and complete knowledge about the examination pattern of that exam so that i have provided you the complete examination pattern for UPSC - ISS - Indian Statistical Services please read below :
There would be following 6 different papers conducted in this exam which are only allowed to answer in english language and the question papers would also be printed in english language only and there is no objective type question paper means all question papers would be conducted in conventional type mode :
1. English Language - 100 marks
2. General Studies - 100 marks
3. Statistics - I - 200 marks
4. Statistics - II - 200 marks
5. Statistics - III - 200 marks
6. Statistics - IV - 200 marks
total marks for all 6 papers - 1000 and you would get only 3 hours for each question paper
So that dear you have watched that each paper is most important because there, each paper has more marks and all papers of statistics carrying 200 marks so dear you should not leave any subject behind your preparation and first of all you should cover that subject which is most tough for you in this examination means if you are weak in Statistics then you should give at least 50% of your time to statistics paper because there are 4 different papers would be conducted in this exam and each paper is necessary to be qualified of each subject so that you would have to study hard and you always would have to provide more and more time for statistics because of having 4 papers then you should think about GS
General Studies paper because so many candidates are there in this exam who do not have good command over general studies and this subject will also help you in other UPSC exam as civil services and forest services and when you make it sure that you can qualify and score well in GS Paper then you should go for English Language.
Most of the candidates are there who easily get qualified in english language but you should not think that you can because you are going to sit in a huge competitive exam which is not so easy and you should study hard for english language only because only your marks are there which would provide you the chance for interview process so that try to collet highest marks in each subject because your written examination marks + Interview marks both are responsible for your selection.
I have attached some previous years question papers to prepare for this exam of each subject please download all the question papers and get the help in your preparation
All the best
