The upsc conducts exam for the various posts of IAS/IPS/IRS and the there is one exam conducted for all of these and according to the rank you scored in the exam the positions are given ......
So exactly the syll and paper is same..

There are two phases of the exams in the UPSC :-

i)Preliminary Exam

ii)Mains

The Preliminary exam is same for te candidates of the different posts but for the mains you have to choose the subjects of your choices.

So papers and the syllabus for the UPSC exams is same.

The syllabus of the IAS and IPS exam is same. Both are under the civil service exam.

These posts are divided by the candidate rank which he is got from the exam.

First of the entire preliminary exam is held:-

In this step two papers are taken by upsc (both are the general studies)

After that mains exam held, under this exam:-

One paper is the general English

One paper is your option language paper

Two papers are general studies.

Four paper of your two optional subjects.
