You can take any subjects in which you are good. But I have to suggest you to take the Arts basis subjects. You can take the Subjects like Sociology, Philosophy, History, etc. You can get also the Science subjects like Physics, Maths etc but you should have good experience and good handling capability to solve the problems of these subjects.

In UPSC mains you have to select three subjects, in which you have to select one language subject like Hindi, Marathi, Bengali etc. And after that you have to select two optional subjects in Arts, Science or commerce. So, the two subjects you have to choose with your own comfort ability.
