Best option for Optional Subject in the civil services exam is definitely to be decided by your own liking and aptitude.
However the safest option will be subjects in Humanities like Public administration , Political science , History etc.
Dear pal,
- Optional papers are not provided in the aptitude exam while you can apply only in the main exam which includes 9 papers of which four are optional one. You can choose anything as per the necessity and interest.
- Various optional papers are available are Botany , physics, chemistry, zoology, mathematics, statistics, animal husbandry, Veterinary science, economics, commerce, and engineering papers which includes civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics and communication etc
- So you can wish to choose any paper as optional as you do not required deep knowledge in the subject. Aspirant knowledge in the higher secondary level is sufficient to clear the paper.
- So you can choose any paper and appear in it.
in my opinion you should apply for ies exam from e&t engineering that will be more close to your area of study and you can tackle it easily.
all the best
happy learning!!!
