What is the computer science syllabus in Civil Services Exam? Am I eligible for IES exam with Computer Science specialization in Bachelors?

i am susmitha graduate in B.tech computer science with distinction..
although i am intrested at Civil services..but i didnt found my branch syllabus for prelims exams as like as other branches of B.tech gradutes(mech,civil,electronics..)..AND
Am i eligible for ies exam with my branch syllabus..

Hello Susmitha,

For prelims there are no subject list to choose from. There are two papers in prelims: GS and Aptitude Test. So, there is no need for any optional at this stage.

But for mains, one has to choose two subjects from the list of optionals. Unfortunately, computer science is not included in that list. So, you have to take different subjects from what you have studied in your graduation.

Also, the minimum educational qualification to appear in the exam is graduation. The stream of graduation doesn't matter. So, are eligible to appear in the exam.

Yes, you are eligible for IES exam as UPSC exams eligibility criteria is as below:

- Indian Citizenship
- Graduation in any discipline from govt. recognized university.
- Age of 21 to 30 for open category.
- Age relaxation of 3 years and 5 years for OBC and SC/ST category respectively.

There is no specific syllabus for computer science in civil service exam .But i have attached the syllabus for civil service exam .So please check it out.

B-Tech or BE in computer Science candidate are not applicable for IES exam.The details of IES exam is given below-

If you have completed your Bachelor Engineering Degree course, then you are eligible to apply for IES Examination, But your engineering degree must be in CIVIL, MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING. M.Sc Degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering are also applicable for IES Exam.

The applicant age should between 21 yrs to 30 yrs.
