you have to complete your graduation in any field from recognized college or university and your age must be within 21 years to 30 years.
And there is relaxation in UPPER AGE limit for reserved category candidates(3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates).

upsc required only graduatio in any stream from the recognized university which is approved by the ugc/aicet. and percentage of the marks is no matter for the exam.
so you start your course/degree in any stream .

B.Com
B.A.
B.Sc
B.E./B.Tech
B.B.A.
B.C.A.
B.Sc.It
B.Pharm
Law
so you can do any of the above course based on your 12th stream because if you are in commerce stream then you can't do B.E. and B.Pharm course .
So based on your 12th Stream select any graduation course and study it .
Other requirement for the exam is below :
-> A final year student can also eligible for applying the exam , but before the main exam one have to complete the graduation .
-> age limit is 21-30 for general cast , 3 years relaxion for obc , 5 years relaxion for sc/st/ex-serviceman , 10 years relaxion for physically handicapped .
-> maximum 4 attempts are allowed for the general cast , 7 for obc cast and no limit for the no of attempts for the sc/st cast .
So start the graduation and also prepare for the exam .

it depends on your interest because there is no any boundation of subject .
almost all the science ,commerce and arts background students are eligible to appear in the examination.

Friend you can complete your graduation in any stream to pursue civil service exam.
Civil Service Exam is conducted by UPSC for the posts of IAS, IPS or IRS etc.
Eligibility for Civil Service Exam
You must be graduate in any branch from UGC recognized university or its equivalent.
Final year student are eligible to apply.
No certain marks of percentage required.
Age should be 21 to 30 years
Age relaxation
SC/ST + 5 years
OBC + 3 years
PH + 10 years
You must be Indian.
If you satisfy the above criteria you can apply for CS Exam.
You can apply for Civil Service exam in 2013.
