Generally people use IES to state both Engineering Service and Economic services.
But in UPSC website and notification only Economic service is stated as IES for Indian Economic Services.
Engineering Service is not abbreviated as IES in official notification. It is called as Engg service itself.
This confusion occurs with Forest service and Foreign service as well. Some candidate call both as IFS but actually officially Foreign service is IFS and Forest service is IFoS.
Hi,
IES exam stands for Indian engineering Service. There is big difference between Indian Engineering and Economics services.
IES exam requires a Engineering degree from a Recognized university.
On the other hand, Indian Economics services Requires a Post graduation degree from Indsian recognized university in Economics subjects.
Age limit for is same for both exam(21-30 years)
IES exam give very respected post known as IES officer.
As you know Economics is the theory of how to best divide Resources up between Agents to maximize their Ability.
Both exam are conducted by UPSC.
I hope You understand it.
All the best............
Dear friend,
IES stands for both Indian Engineering Services as well as Indian Economic Services and ES generally used as short term for IES examination where ES stands for Engineering services but this is general trend among engineering services aspirants.
But according to UPSC which conducts both exams, IES stands for Indian Economic Services and Engineering services are conducted under the name of ESE-Engineering Services Examination.
Thank you and all the best![]()
Dear Aspirant
Since both the examination start with IES there is confusion but if you look later part then you will understand what is the actual difference between them. The notification published by the commission for the examination is Engineering Services Examination or sometimes called as IES but in case of I.E.S/I.S.S.That is notification for Indian Econmoic Services come alongwith Indian Stastical Services. Both the examiantion are conducted together.
So next time be clear that only I.E.S is Indian Engineers Services but actually it is Engineering Services Examination. So don't get confuse besides these the examination pattern and syllabus is also entirely different for both the examination. You may get the date of examination for both the examination form UPSC official websites(www.upsc.gov.in).
Besides this keep Engineering Services are conducted for recrutitment of engineers for different government services and posts in Engineering fields of Civil,ELectrical,Mechanical where as Indian Economics Services and Indian Statisical Services are conducted for selection of economists for posts in planning commission etc
ies stands for indian engineering services
and ies/iss is indian economic services/indian statistical services., these two services are collaraberated in the same examination.
the engineering services examination is also known as ese.,
all the best
happy learning!!!!
Hi
The difference in the IES and the ES is that ES stands for the engineering services whereas the IES stands fro the indian economic services.
Both are the exams that are been conducted by the upsc itself, and the age limit for giving the exam is 21-30 years. A relaxation of 3 and 5 years is given to the obc and the sc/st candidates respectively.
For more and accurate details you can alwaya have a look on the website of the upsc
