Sun Inspector which is itself a good post and reputed post
But the IPS Post is just above among all these posts
For the IPS Post you have to write the civil services exam
Because the post comes under the civil services exam
The exam is conducted by the upsc every year
Eligibility Criteria Required for the Exam :
>> The Candidate Should be pass in the graduation
>> The Candidate of the final year can apply for the exam
>> The Candidate just need to be pass in the graduation with passing marks
Age Limits :
>> The Candidate Age should be 21 to 30
>> The Age relaxation for the ex serviceman's is 5 years
>> The age relaxation for the obc 3 years and sc,st 5 years
No. Of Attempts :
>> Their is 7 attempts allowed for obc

if you want to become an ips officer than you have to give the civil services examination .
Civil services examination is a common examination for most of all the civil service in which ips is one of them ,
so if you want to become an ips officer than you have to clear the examination successfully because there is no any other way to become a ips officer.
So first you should know about the examination .
The notification for the examination is released in the month of february every year and the examination is held ion the month of may .
But before you apply you should check that you are eligible for the same according to the criteria given below.
Eligibility criteria:-
* you must be the citizen of india.
* you must be a graduate from a govt. Recognized university.
Age criteria:-
* for general :- 21-30 yrs.
* for obc :- 21-33 yrs.
* for sc/st :- 21-35 yrs.
If you are according to the criteria than you are the right person for the same ,

You should have be complete graduation from a recognized university.
You must be a citizen of India.
Final year graduations appearing students are also eligible.
You must be physically fit.
Age criteria:-
The age limits are 21 years to 30 years,
3 years age relaxation for OBC candidates,
5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates.
Selection process:-
Preliminary exam,
Mains exam,
Personal interview
You should have completed any bachelor degree in any government approved college....

Candidate should be completed Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized University.
Age should be between 21 years to 30 years for General category candidates.
Age relaxation for OBC category candidates 3 years and SC/ST category candidates 5 years.

General category candidates - 4 time
OBC category Candidates - 7 time

The eligibility criteria for giving the IPS exam is that you should be a graduate ffrom a recognized indian university and your age should be in between 21-30 years.
You do not need to get any specific marks in graduation in order to give the IPS exam. Even if you pass your graduation with 33%, then also you are eligible.
There is a relaxation of 3 years is given in the age limit for the obc candidates
Whereas a relaxation of 5 years in the age limit is given to the sc/st candidates.
