And their is age limit also 18-27
For the oh it is 18-37
And for the obc candidates it is 18-30
And for the sc.st it is 18-32

income tax officer belongs to groups
if you have done with great cutoff in ias ,ips and some competitive exams
then you could automatically allotted to income tax officer
and you also go for road transport officer
and you also go for central beuro of investigation(cbi)
if you qualify in those exams you will be allotted in higher standard jobs like
above
the eligibility to attempt groups is complete degree (graduation)
your age must be between 21 to 30 years
age relaxation also provided for backward candidates
selection should be completely based on written test and interview

To be income tax officer you should have any degree of a recognized University, or equivalent.
Your age should not be not less than 18 yers and not greater than 27 years on the first July of the year of examination
The age limit for the posts of Inspector of Income Tax, is 18-27 years as on March 2011

Selection Process:
we have two modes of entries in Income Tax Department.
We can go through Civil Service exams.As I discussed above Income Tax Department is also a part of civil service, so the whole process is as same as for others its your ranking and scores in entrance which will decide you to get there.
By going through Civil Service candidate can expect 'High Ranking Post' like- Assistant Commissioner etc.
