Hello,
UPSC as not come out with the notification yet for 2013 CSE. So, saying anything about its pattern would be a speculation. Nevertheless, it is hard to think of any changes in pattern this year. So, most probably, the pattern will remain same for mains exam as it was in 2012. However, everything would be clear once the notification is out for CSE 2013.

It was just a proposal which is not implemented yet
There were lots of rumors that the pattern of the main examination of Civil services examinations is going to change from the 2013.Civil services is examination is conducted by the UPSC for the different respectable posts like IPS,IFS,IAS .
But the main examination pattern is still the same there is no change in the pattern .It is as below:

Examination Pattern for UPSC Civil Service Exam 2013 :
Preliminary Examination : There would be two papers conducted in this test and each paper would be conducted in objective type pattern and each paper has 200 marks and for your kind information that qualifying in each paper is necessary for every candidate and the papers are - 1. General Studies, 2. CSAT
Mains Examination : There would be following 9 papers conducted in this section and this section papers would be conducted in conventional type pattern and qualifying in each paper is necessary :
Paper I - Any one Indian Language - 300 marks
Paper II - English Language - 300 marks
Paper III - Essay - 200 marks
Paper IV and V - General Studies - I & II - 300 marks each
Paper VI and VII - Any one Selected optional subject - 300 marks
Paper VIII and IX - Any one selected optional subject - 300 marks
Grand total for mains examination - 2000 and you can choose any two subjects from the following list as your optional subjects for mains examination :

IAS exam is conducted by UPSC through Civil Service Exam .
Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.
But your age should be in between 21 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.
The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.Also you must be in citizen in India.

First of All there's not any examination called IAS examination, it's civil services.
Well mine friend, Examination Pattern for this year Civil services goes as :
>> FIrst of all There will be CSAT examination consisting of gk related questions
>> At second level there comes Mains Examination which will consist of Three papers you selected

Civil Services Exam(CSE) is one of the most competitive and prestigious exams in India.
CSE is conducted by UPSC every year to make recruitments to 24 services/posts.
STAGES OF CSE EXAMS :
1.Prelims/CSAT Exam
2.Mains Exam
3.Interviews
CSE is conducted in 3 stages viz.
1.Prelims/CSAT Exam-CSAT stands for Civil Services Aptitude Test.It consists of 2 papers of General studies of 200 marks each i.e.total marks for CSAT Exam is 400 marks.It is conducted to shortlist candidates for the Mains Exam of CSE.Only candidates successful in the CSAT Exams are moved to the second stage of CSE i.e.Mains exam.
