Civil servcie examination is conducted by UPSC every years.Those who crack it are selected for various posts and services like IAS(Indian Adminisntrtaive Service),IPS(indian Police Service ) and IFS(Indian Foreign Services) and several are appointed in Group A & B services.It is the only examination which has so much vast syllabus as it selects a person who have real aptitude for government services.I am briefly highlighting the examination pattern from that you may infer what you need as a knowledge
The examination is conducted in two phases Preliminary examination and then main examination.In order to be eligible for main examination you have to qualify Preliminary examination .Preliminary examination consits of two papers.These are and their syllabus are mentioned below
