THe knowledge of politics is not required to serve as an IAS officer. You are in any case not going to indulge in politics. The work of an IAS stops in polocy design and execution as that of subordinate to ministers. YOu should have good decision making skills, administrative skills, crisis managing skills etc. YOu will be given adequate training on how to execute your powers, the various function to be performed etc during your training in Lal bahadur academy for Indian administration in DEhradun.

yes you can definitely become IAS officer if you have passion and dedication for the examination.

but it is not at all a necessity to become an IAS officer.

to become an IAS officer
you have to apply for the upsc civil services examination.
graduation or engineering in stream form a recognized university
is the basic eligibility to apply for the upsc civil services examination.

this exam is carried out in two phases
PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
MAINS EXAMINATION
followed by an INTERVIEW.

so don't worry about your knowledge of politics and
