hi friend,
you should prepare all those subjects which is covered under the general studies subject and your optional paper.
first decide which optional subject you are going to take depending upon your interest and proficiency. You can read the basic books to find out in which subject you are interested in..There are many optional subjects available which you can choose depending upon your interest.
after deciding the optional subject focus on that subject to get the necessary clarity needed for the examination.
as far as the general studies you have to focus on the subjects which is covered under tthis paper.
now what are the subjects covered under general studies? they are history, geography, polity and constitution, economics, general science, science and tech, sociology etc...
Also see the syllabus of the optional papers to know which topic to be studied in depth and so on..
in addition read newspapers as well and listen to important news/daebates.
if you see the syllabus of theexam you can get the clarity of the subjects that are needed to be studied.
