All other 6 papers contains 250 marks each and total scored alloted for main examination is 1800 so you have to score good marks out of 1800 and get the job
Selection of Optional Paper will be done by you and you will get a list of all optional subjects where you are allowed to choose only one subject as optional and two papers will be separated for one subject and all questions of those two papers will be based on the subject that you will choose from the list
Now you can watch entire syllabus but this syllabus is not in detail but this may give you an idea about questions that may be asked in examination papers i.e. - If you appear for preliminary examination - General Studies Paper I then all questions will be asked on the basis of mentioned topics in paper I and you have to prepare for all papers according to syllabus provided by the board so you will not have any problem in any section and same pattern will follow for all papers of main examination too
One more thing that you may judge here that is - General Studies Subject means there is one separate paper of GS in preliminary examination and four separate conventional type papers are mandatory in main examination and all papers are related to each other and mainly from preliminary GS paper so if you prepare well for General Studies section and get full knowledge of every single topic mentioned above then you can make yourself able to score enough marks in all papers of General Studies of Main examination but you just have to revise everything more than 15 times before main exam then only you may score good marks
Paper I of General Studies is based on English Language that needs to be passed so practice more over english language and learn modern english that is asked in X level examination of NCERT and other optional subject papers will be according to your choice so you have to use your mind and just choose a right one that could help you in scoring good marks so you can qualify main exam without have so much problem
Duration of IPS Examination - Preliminary test has two papers in which - Paper I - General Studies will be conducted between - 10:00 to 12:00 in Morning and Paper II - CSAT will be conducted between - 02:00 to 04:00 in Evening means you will get 2 hours for each paper in prelims examination
Main Examination Papers Duration - 3 hours for each paper of main examination
How to manage time in in paper while appearing for examination : This is the major problem of every competitive examination of each field and most of the students complains over this issue that they could not manage the time or time was too less to solve the paper completely so why students are facing this problem in the competition when everyone wants to be ahead but there are some students who comes back from examination after completing paper and says that time was enough or quite enough to solve paper so first you should take difference between them that why they are giving their feedback right about the time
There is no more big reason behind this, it is just because of lack of practice of paper before appearing and there is no more reason except this because lakhs of candidates prepares and appear for examination but only some of them get the job or pass in examination so this is because they care for preparation and learning but they look after more over practice of paper before facing in examination hall and whatever they practice before examination comes in the exam in change format so they just have to take few ideas and solve papers so I would like to suggest you to increase practice and revision time and give at least 8 hours everyday only for practice so you could solve at least 3-4 practice tests everyday by using different books
Set your time for both practice and learning basics of about all subjects but make it sure that you have completed your all basic learning before starting practice otherwise you will get frustrated while solving model question paper so complete your basics first and when you see different pattern of questions then you should memorize that and try to solve more than 5 times instantly so that will be solid for exam
There will be different sections in examination as mentioned above so you have to cover at least 80% of syllabus with surety because 100% can not be covered and when you see that you can easily solve around 50% questions in just 40-50 minutes then you have to give extra time for lengthy questions and try to cover more than 70% part of paper in just 1 Hour and 40 minutes then if you know and sure about other questions then give 20 minutes carefully to other questions but everywhere I would say that only practice can make you perfect to pass examination and score good marks so do not leave it and keep practicing until you get your goal
