The first paper of IES is General Ability Test which is objective and of 200 marks. One needs to clear the cutoff in General Ability Test and Objective Technical papers to ensure that their papers for the Subjective tests are checked.
GAT consists of questions from General Science,Current affairs,English,Aptitude.
General science means there will be questions from Physics,Chemistry,Botany,Zoology,History,Geography ,Economics,Civics etc. The rest are Current Affairs,English and Aptitude.
English will comprise of passage and Grammar as main.
