    Whether MBA student can apply for Civil Services exam or not? Which optional subject would be best for an MBA student having dual specialization in Marketing and HR?

    i am an MBA pursuing of age 23,having dual specialization in marketing n HR.. so which would be best optional subject for upsc exam? can i get upsc prelims exam form now for the exam to be conducted in may 3rd week 2010?

    Mba degree is genral so u can apply to any civil services exam

    Any graduate in India can apply for ias exam it does not matter whether you did post graduation or not,

    the only thing that will matter for you is whether your age is below 30 years or not,

    if your age is above 30 years then you are not eligible

    also you can select any subject of your choice for the main exam ,

    the list of subjects are available at www.upsc.gov.in

    offcourse MBA graduates can apply for civil service exams and the best options for them is commerce and accountancy OR management and note the point that both are not allowed as optionals in main exam

    although all the options available in UPSC syllabus are good.......it only depends on ur interest........but u should first try for the pub. ad.

    yes,you can apply for civil services asone must be a graduate from a recognized university .this year you have missed the chance as last date was in march. you can chose accounts &management.for more details visit www.upsc.gov.in

    DEAR FRIEND MBA student can apply for civil services exam.but age limit is candidate must between 21-30 years.for application visit www.upsc.gov.ingood luck!

    Hi Aspirant,

    MBA students can apply for Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC.

    Civil Service Exam is conducted once in a years.

    UPSC release the notification for UPSC exam in December every year.


    Required Qualification

    You must be graduate in any stream from recognized university or its equivalent.

    You should be in age of 21 to 30 years

    Age relaxation as per government rules

    SC/ST + 5 years

    OBC + 3 years

    Ph + 10 years

    You must be Indian.


    Number of attempts for CSE

    4 attempt for general candidates

    7 attempt for OBC candidates

    No limit for SC/ST candidates


    Friend you should choose optional subject as per your interest.

    You can choose management as optional subject as per your qualification.

    But last decision should be your own.

    You can apply for UPSC exam in two modes

    Online application

    Offline application
