Am I eligible to Apply for Civil Services exam after completing 3 years diploma in hotel management from IHM Kolkata?

Hi,

I have completed my 3 year diploma in hotel management in 2002 from IHM Kolkata.I was wondering whether i am eligible to sit for the UPSC entrance exams or not since in the eligible criteria it was mentioned in the website that a degree or equivalent from a govt approved institute are eligible for it.

Request you to please clarify the same.

​ya u are applicable for upsc examination but age factor is most important if ur age is more than 30 u r not applicable

you can apply for some exams.
but you can not apply for civil service exam.
for this you must have degree.

To appear for the Civil Service Exam or the CSAT that is conducted by the UPSC.

According to UPSC guidelines, you need to complete graduation to give the CSAT exam.

Since, you have done diploma and not completed your graduation, so you are not eligible.

However, if you complete your graduation before the upper age limit specified then you can sit for the exam.

Upper Age limit:

For General:30 Years
For OBC:33 Years
For SC/St:35 years.

yet you are not eligible for the civil service exam, first of all you will complete your graduation in any stream. then u r eligible for the exam. that time you are eligible only +2 basis and diploma basis.

as you said that you have completed diploma of hotel management so you are not eligible for the civil services exam,

i am extremely sorry to say that you can't apply for UPSC Civil Services Exam after completing only diploma. For Civil Services minimum Educational qualification is graduation in any stream. So if you want to apply for Civil Services Exam you have to complete graduation. you can complete your graduation through distance mode also.

1. Graduation in any discipline

2. Age Limit:

• General: 21 to 30 years
• OBC: 21 years to 33 years
• SC/ST: 21 years to 35 years

Dear Aspirant,

Unfortunately you are not eligible to apply for UPSC Civil Services examination.
Because 3 Years Diploma is not equivalent to Graduation Degree.
You will be consider higher than 10+2 but lower than Graduation Qualification.
Minimum qualification to apply for civil services exam and UPSC examination is Graduation in any discipline in any stream from a recognized University.
You can opt for higher studies which is equivalent to graduation if you want to apply for civil services, but I think it will take a lot of time.
But you can definitely apply for Staff Selection Commission Examinations like CHSL, Stengrapher, LDC, DEO etc. which requires minimum education qualification of 10+2.
so if you want you can apply for SSC examinations.
