    Hello,

First of all the minimum qualification of IES is Graduate in Engineering i.e. B.Tech. degree. If you are the student of Polytechnic you cannot fill the form of UPSC IES exam.

When you will complete Your Degree examination then you should apply for Engineering Services Examination i.e. IES exam.

There are four categories in IES exam:

    1. Civil Engineering

    2. Mechanical Engineering

    3. Electrical Engineering

    4. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

    Wish you all the best,

    no u cant.
first of all diploma holders are not eligible to write IES exam. eligibility for IES is B.E/B.Tech in CIVIL/ELECTRICAL/MECH/ELECTRONICS & TELECOMMUNICATIONS only.
    so do ur higher studies.
