    dear aspirant,


    IRS stands for Indian Revenue Services. after clearing IRS you will get the posts in Customs and Central excise department.

    for IRS you have to write Civil Services exam which is conducted by UPSC. For Civil Service you need graduation degree or you can also apply for exam while appearing in final year of graduation.

    Civil Services exam is conducted in three phases and you have to clear all the phases to become an IRS officer.
    The three phases are CSAT(Prelims), Mains and Interview

    SCHEME For Prelims Exam:


    General Studies Paper - I 200 Marks


    General Studies Paper - II 200 Marks


    SCHEME For Mains Exam:

    Section 1 Essay 200 Marks


    Section 2 English Comprehension 100 Marks
    & English Pr�cis
    (Of Matriculation/ Xth standard
    level)


    Paper-II


    General Studies�I 250Marks
    (Indian Heritage and Culture,
    History and Geography of the World
    and Society)


    Paper-III


    General Studies �II 250 Marks
    (Governance, Constitution,

    to apply for the Civil Services exam you have to satisfy some conditions like you have completed Graduation degree or final year candidates can also apply for the exam.and your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. There is also available relaxation in upper age limit according to government norms.

    there are also limit of number of attempts like 4 attempts for general category and 7 attempts for OBC category. SC/ST candidates can apply for any number of time.
