Civil service exam is conducted for the post of IAS, IPS or IRS.

You should only satisfy the eligibility criteria for civil service exam.


Required qualification

Only graduate candidates can apply for civil service exam

There is no restriction of percentage in civil service exam

You should be in age of 21 to 30 years.

Age relaxation

OBC + 3 years

SC/St + 5 years

PH + 10

Ex-service man + 5 years

You must have Indian citizenship.


Friend ex service man can get the age relaxation in civil service exam.

Ex service man also get the relaxation in final merit list.

Yes sure a Ex-Servicemen category candidate can apply for any civil services exams which are UPSC or any state PSC under India means you are eligible but you should have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks and 45% marks in case of SC/STs and your age should not be more than 30 years and less than 21 years then you would only be allowed to appear for USPSC Civil Services exams.

UPSC will release it's next notification for upcoming civil services exams around March at the official website for the UPSC board - www.upsc.gov.in so that you should keep visiting at this website for more details and information about the exams and UPSC will announce it's Indian Forest Services notification also around this month so that there is no more time to prepare and you should prepare hard for exam.

Definitely ex servicemen can apply. But he/she must be a graduate to apply for Civil services of UPSC or WBCS. There is age relaxation of +5years for Civil services for ex servicemen. You will be allowed to appear till the maximum age of 35 years for UPSC Civil Services. There will be no other relaxation or reservation as such in cut off marks or fee exemption etc.
