There is no optional paper for the preliminary examination of CSAT of the UPSC. As a B.Sc Nursing student, you can appear the CSAT examination. According to the new syllabus, there is two papers in preliminary examination which are compulsory to all to write. These are the General Study & English language and comprehension. you have to choose two optional papers for main examination. So if you choose your parents subjects for the main examination, then it will be easy to you for the preparation. You know that for the first time a B.Sc Nursing student got IAS this year. yes, you can choose same optional subjects for both UPSC Prelims and Mains.
as you are graduate you can apply for UPSC Civil Services, CDS, IFS, CPF exams.
