    Dear candidate,
-According to The norms of the UPSC,an IIT student is entitled to no such benefit over a General Candidate.
-The UPSC treats all candidates as equal.
-According to the essential educational qualifications to appear for this exam,A CANDIDATE MUST HOLD A DEGREE OF GRADUATION OR EQUIVALENT FROM AN UGC RECOGNIZED UNIVERSITY,THROUGH ANY STREAM.THERE IS NOTHING MENTIONED IN PARTICULAR FOR THE IIT STUDENTS.
-Therefore,except the Experience and Knowledge front, which you might have being an IIT student, there is NO ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGE FOR YOU.

U.P.S.C stands for UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION.
Various examinations are conducted by U.P.S.C.

Exams conducted by U.P.S.C. are as follows:-

    1)Civil Service Exam
    2)Indian Engineering Service
    3)Indian Police Service
    4)Indian Forest Service
    5)Combined Defense Service
6)National Defense Academy & Naval Academy Exam
    7)S.C.R.A. Exam
    8)Combined Medical Services Exam
    9)Geologists' Exam
10)S.O./Steno (GD-B/GD-I) LTD. DEPTTL. Competitive Exam

As far your question is concerned there is no such benefit for IIT students in the exams conducted U.P.S.C.
The IIT students are also treated as graduate degree holders as normal arts/science/commerce graduate holders are treated.
There is no benefit for IIT students.
Like normal graduate students, IIT students have to satisfy the eligibility criteria also to apply for examinations.
They have to clear all the preliminary, main exam, interview as well as physical & medical criteria for U.P.S.C.
So, there is no additional benefit for you.

    Dear Candidate,
There is no benefit like that for an IIT student.UPSC Examination centre treats every candidate the same.
The qualification for UPSC exam is graduation in any degree there is no specific IIT degree. There is also an age qualification.you must be 21-30 yrs old.

Re: Can an IIT student get any benefit over General candidate in UPSC exam?

    Dear Friend

There in no such provisions that IIT students will get any previlege or benefit over general candidate.

According to rules and regulations of UPSC ,all candidates are treated equally except OBC and SC/ST who get relaxation in age and no of attempts.

    For obc: 21-33 years

    For sc/st: 21-35 years.

In case of no of attempts ,General:4

    OBC:7

    SC/ST:no limit.

SO,dear friend,if you belong to either obc or sc/st ,you will get these types of relaxation and benefits over general students otherwise there is no such benefits.

The advantage for you will that you will have an edge over any students as you are from IIT. As well known you will have sharp brain better understanding cappacity in comparison to other students.

    Hope the information helps you.

    all the best
