Dear if you have already determined to became an IPS.
So for in least short time i will suggest you be a graduate on Math's.
A Math's Graduates is always vibrant than any other graduates.
And so you can choose one of your subjects as Maths.
Surely Graduating in Maths will help you alot and even it will also increase your analytical skills.
Thank You
Dear friend,
Its up to you which course or subject you are interested and you enjoy studying subject.
As there is no restrictions on stream in IPS required to give exam. So you can take any subject combination.
See the importance of subject is seen when choosing subjects for optional.
So if you wish to make your subject knowledge strong from mains view of exam then I would say to chose a subject which you have knowledge about and you really are interested in.
Also I would like to tell you its not necessary that you chose subject for optional according to your graduation subjects but according to the indepth knowledge for which subject you have.
So I would like to advise take the subjects which you feel you can cope up with as there is no good or bad subject for IPS.
Here below You can see some qualifications which you need for IPS:-
>> You must be a graduate either passed or appearing.
>> As I stated above that you do not need any particular stream to opt for IPS, So stream is not a requirement to apply for the exam.
>> Also no percentage requirement is there.
>> Your Nationality must be Indian.
To be updated with important dates and notification about the exam always visit the official website of UPSC.
dear aspirant,
for IPS you need graduation in any discipline from recognized college or university. Si first of all you need to complete graduation.
as you said you are in 12th Science, after 12th you can go for any graduation course. after 12th you have the options like

B.SC

all the above listed course are good after 12th science. but you have to study from heart whatever you choose and need to concentrate on basic concepts.

Good Luck.......

Friend you can take any subject of your choice for IPS. You need to give IPS exam between age limit 21-30.
you can choose for any of the course after 12th to become IPS officer
Qualifications for IPS officer are:
1. have 10+2 degree
2. have graduate degree from any recognized university
you can choose for any of the course after 12th as:
#B.Tech
#Graduation(B.A,B.Sc,B.Com etc)
#IT
3. age limit 21- 30 years
4. attempt: 4 (general)
good luck
Well according to me if you can complete the graduation into the following sujects then you can qualify the civil services examination very easily because these are the optional subjects that you need to choose for the final examination which will be very tough to crack.
The optional subjects are as follows-
Mathematics.
Anthropology.
Mechanical engineering.
Botany.
Medical science.
Chemistry.
Philosophy.
Civil engineering.
Physics.
Commerce and accountancy.
Political science.
Economics
Pshycology.
Electrical engineering.
Public administration.
Geography .
Sociology.
Geology.
Statistics.
Indian history.
Zoology
Law.
If you can choose any of the subjects as your favourate and you think that will be easier for you then you can definitely go for that, because you need to write very much in the final exam.
CSAT will be the first step of the examination it is mainly based on the subjects that you have studied in class 6 to 12th so its not hard to crack after the same.
CSAT stands for the civil services aptitude test.
It includes 2 papers of general studies.
After qualifying the CSAT you need to go for the MAINS .
Mains exam includes many papers in it at least 9 papers.
Total marks for these papers will be 2000.
Finally if you qualify the mains then you need to go for the interview that will be of 300 marks.
