Re: Detailed information about IAS exam. How many candidates will be selected out of total applicants?
hi friend,
Upsc is the nodal agency for conducting the civil services exam.
upsc conducts the exam once every year. The exam takes one year to get completed spanning three stages namely prelims, mains, personality test.
every year lakhs of aspirants appear in it.
roughly 5-6 lakh people apply but ony 3-4 lakh appear for the exam
out of which you have to come with in 10000-12000 roughly to clear prelims depending upon the vacancy available for the year..In mains stage you have to come with in 2000-2500 to get selection for the interview stage.
finally some 900 candidates are selected depending upon the vacancy for that particular year.
for getting in to IAS it would be better if you come with in first 100 rank if you belong to general category.
nominal fees is collected as examination fee.fee exempted for girls/sc/st candidates. now as per the new syllabus you have to select only one optional instead of two. prelims is of objective nature.
