Dear Candidate,
-The competition in the UPSC CIVIL SERVICE Exams is very tough.
-Every year,about 5 lakhs of students apply for this examination.Out of these,about 50,000 applications are rejected due to ineligibility and due to not filling the forms as guided.
-The rest of the Candidates are sent in the Admit Cards of the PRELIMINARY EXAMS.This exam is conducted in May.
-From here,only about 1 lakh of candidates further move towards the MAINS EXAMS which are carried out in October-November.
-Finally,about 20000 candidates go on to the final hurdle-The INTERVIEWs.
-The best suitable candidates,about 850 in number are thereon selected to fill in the various posts at the centre.

Their are three step to clear the exam of civil service such as
first all the candidate have to clear the prelims exam and their is also negative in the prelims for the wrong answer.

After the prelims there is main exam all those candidate who have clear the prelims are called for main exam. The criteria for selecting the candidate is the cut off marks which are set by the upsc. All candidate who get marks above cut off marks are eligible for the main exam. After clearing the main exam the candidates are called for the interview which is the last step in getting the civil service exam.
the appearing in the in interview depends upon the candidates performance in the prelims exam and in the main exam.
