To become a IPS officer , you should go for civil service exam because IPS not conduct any exams .IPS officer recruit through Civil Service exam by UPSC .
The education qualification IPS exam is Bachelor Degree .
Your age should be in between 21-30 years for general candidate.Age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.
The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.Also you must be citizen of India.

The exam conducted for this exam is known as Civil Services Examination.
Here below are some eligibility norms which you require to give Civil Services exam:-
>> You must have done your graduation from a recognised university.
>> Also If you are in the last year then also you are eligible for the exam.
>> Your age must be between 21 to 30 years in case of General Category.
>> SC/ST have age relaxation of 5 yrs, OBC- 3yrs and PH have 10 yrs of age relaxation.

you have 2 papers in this

To become an IPS officer you need to go for civil service exam conducted by UPSC on national basis once in a year. This exam is divided into three phases.
1. Preliminary Exam
2. Main Exam
3. Interview
Basic criteria or eligibility for this exam are as follows:
Candidate should be a graduate from a recognized university.
An Indian Citizen
Age should be 21 to 30 years, 3 years relaxation for OBC and 5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates.
And one thing always remember that you got limited chance to sit in this exam, 4 chance for general category, 7 for OBC and there are not any limit for SC/ST candidates.

In order to Become IPS you must clear civil service exam CSAT .CSAT stands for � Civil Service Aptitude Test. This is civil Entrance exam. If you clear this exam then you are eligible for the IPS post.
## You should be Indian citizen
## You should complete graduation from the recognized college or University in any discipline.
## Your age should be minimum 21 years and the maximum age for the
General Category � 30 years
SC/ST � 35 years
Physically handicapped � 40 years

To become an IPS (Indian police Service officer) :
For becoming an IPS the candidate must possess a degree from an recognised university or an equivalent qualification. Those in the final year of degree course can also appear in the preliminary examination taken every year by "UPSC".
Examination Process :
First the candidate has to procure the "Application Form" along with the "Information Brochure" from any of the postoffice spread all over the country and sent the filled application form to the secretary,Union Public service Commission Dholpur house New Delhi-1101.
Secondly in the month of may/june the aspirant have to appear the preliminary examination which consist of 2 papers.This exam is just a qualifying exam for the final exam and the score obtained in this exam are not added to the final result.
Those candidate who have qualified in the preliminary examination are supposed to appear the final exam normally in the month of october.
Once you have qualified the test the final stage is the interview to test the personality and mental ability. Then the candidate good renk go for the training.After completion of the training they are posted as per the requirement of the Central And State Govt Police And Investigation Organization.

If you want to become an IPS officer in future then you must have to give the UPSC exam, because there is not any direct exam for the IPS post. UPSC is is conducting the exam for recruitment to the post of IPS, IRS and IAS...
