Examination Pattern of UPSC Indian Engineering Service Examination 2013-14
Objective Type Papers Section : Three papers will be conducted under this section -
Paper I - General Ability Test - There are two parts in this paper - 200 marks
Part A - General English Language
Part B - General Studies
Paper II - Based on the selected optional/specialization subject of Engineering stream means any one of the - Civil or Electrical or Electronics & Telecommunication or Mechanical Engineering - 200 marks
Paper III - Your selected optional specialization subject - Civil or Electrical or Electronics and Telecommunication or Mechanical Engineering - 200 marks
Conventional Type Papers Section :
Paper I - Any one selected specialization subject - Civil/ Electrical/ Electronics and Telecommunication/ Mechanical Engineering - 200 Marks
Paper II - Any one opted specialization subject - Civil/ Electrical/ Electronics and Telecommunication/ Mechanical Engineering - 200 marks
This is the examination pattern for Indian Engineering Service examination decided and declared by UPSC board and finally I would say that before getting information from any source related to the examination or anything you must try to get official information first then trust because there are so many sources available which contains old or expired information but you always visit at the official website of the board that controls particular examination then read everything exactly
If you see previous examination pattern for IES 2012 then you will find no change in pattern of examination means UPSC board did not change anything in examination pattern but you should download official notification and get all other details because there may be some changes done in other requirements so you should get this first and read carefully
This year's UPSC IES examination has been conducted from 28th of June 2013 to first week of july please prepare for next and if you have participated in last exam then think positive and trust in yourself that you will qualify this examination

UPSC has not changed the pattern of any other exam than Civil Services exam.IES pattern and syllabus are the same as it was last time.There will be total of 5papers.Paper I will be Oblective of General Ability test.
2nd day it will be PaperI objective and Paper II objective of your specific engineering branch.
3rd day there will be Paper I subjective and PaperII subjective of your engineering branch.
If you qualify in the 1st 3 objective papers combined,then your last 2 papers will be evaluated o else there will be no checking and hence direct elimination.All the best
UPSC has not made any changes in the pattern of IES exam. it is same as in the previous year. So you need not to worry about any thing and just concentrate on preparation.
Pattern Of exam:
Part I�The written Examination will comprise two sections�Section I consisting only of objective types of questions and Section II of conventional papers. Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines viz. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
Part II�Personality test carrying a maximum of 200 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the basis of the written examination.

for IES you must have engineering degree in any Branch from recognized college or university with any percentage. Candidates pursuing in final year of engineering are also eligible to write exam.
you are required to give the papers by choosing any one of the following four streams.
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering

- Mechanical Engineering
for IES your age must be within 21 years to 30 years . there is relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

paper pattern of indian engineering service(ies) exam for this year is as following:-
[1]-objective paper :- under this there are three papers
paper (i)- it is general ability test including two parts of paper of 200 marks. First part is general english language and the second part is general studies.
Paper (ii)- this paper is based on the stream in which you have completed the bachelor degree like mechanical, civil, telecommunication etc. Which will be selected by you of 200 marks.
Paper(iii)-this section includes conventional type of paper pattern which will be based on specialization subject selected by you like civil or electrical or mechanical etc. Of 200 marks
paper i- it includes any one selected specialization subject--200 marks
paper ii-it includes any one opted specialization subject--200 marks.
As you can see that there is no change in upsc paper pattern for this year. Now upsc exams are very close. I will suggest you to visit the website of upsc board continuously.

UPSC has not changed the pattern of Engineering Service examination.Don't be panic it has only change the pattern of civil service examination.The syllabus ,examination pattern are same in IES exam.You might knowing also that IES examination cosists of One objective General Ability Test of qualifying nature and then two papers each of main branch paper objective as well as subjective.In order to more clarify you the examination pattern I am giving you the format of examination
