Generally literature and language subjects are not considered scoring in UPSC Civil Services Exam. But if one is really good in any subject and has control over it he can surely score good marks in the subject.
Pros: 1. Literature subjects are less informative.

3. not too difficult to understand

Cons: 1. to score good marks one should have good writing skill
2. creativity required
3. depth in philosophy required
