Dear aspirant so far my knowledge goes there is no entrance exam.for stenographers is conducted by UPSC.There are STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION which conducts the GROUP D stenographers' exam within the country once a year.Having a minimum 12th standard with the speed 100/40 wards per minute a candidate can apply first for written after clearing the exam a steno test is taken separately.After that SSC distributes stenographers' in various central Govt. departments.

UPSC does not conduct any exam for stenographer post . But staff selection comission (SSC) conducts all india level entrance level Exam for GROUP C and D Stenographers Post
for which the candidate must be 12th pass from recognized Board/university and age must be between 18 to 27 years Last But most important candidate must have efficient typing skills
