Dear UPSC IAS examination is conducted by UPSC board once in a year but there are two parts of this examination which are following as
Preliminary Examination : There will be 2 papers in objective type mode conducted in this exam and each paper contains 200 marks and qualifying in this test is compulsory to be eligible for mains examination
Mains examination : If you appear for prelims exam then you will get the result after 2 months and if you got passed in this examination then you will be allowed to appear for mains examination after some months and dates will be fixed by UPSC board for every single section examination so that you need to appear for examination on right date and main thing is your qualifying because if you could not qualify in prelims then you will not be allowed for mains exam
Now you can see that there are two stages of this examination but both exams conduct in the same year and this year UPSC IAS prelims is going to be conducted at 26th May 2013 and mains examination is going to be conducted at 01-12-2013

There is no such Indian Administrative Service exams .It is just a service of Indian government and yes there is entrance examination conducted for this service by the Union Public service commission and the examination is called as Civil services examinations.
This is the entrance examination for the services like IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS etc.
This examination is conducted once every year .So you can apply for the exam only one time during a year.
Before applying you will have to fulfill the eligibility criteria:
1.Bachelor's degree in any discipline of your choice from a recognized university .Candidates of final year of bachelor's degree can also apply for the exam.
2.Your age should be between 21-30 years and if you are from the obc and sc/st then you will get three years age relaxation or five years age relaxation respectively.
