Electrical engineering is good optional subject. You can get high marks in this subject.

You have to choose those optional subject in which you have full interest.

You should choose your field related subject.

Electrical engineering is a good subject for the mains exam of Civil Service.

Friend every subject is good.

It is depends at your interest and hard work that how much you can go through.

You can score well in the mains exam if you are interested and have good knowledge in the opted subject.

So I will suggest you to choose subject on the basis of your interest.

it is better if you dont opt for any engineering related subjects as they are very hard to score
you can opt for history,geography or sociology

You are free to choose any subjects according to your wish for the UPSC Mains.

If you are very much comfortable about electrical then you should go for it.

But according to me you should choose any of the arts subjects for UPSC Mains since that will be most easy for you.

SELECTION PATTERN:-

><Preliminary Exam

><Main Exam

><Interview.

You should choose 2 optional subjects and there is no restriction for t.

Usually all engineering and science subjects have a higher difficulty level compared to other optional subjects and therefore not many students from science background prefer to keep their science/engg subjects.
I suggest that you go through previous 10 years question papers in Electrical Engg to ascertain your comfort with its difficulty level and pattern. If you feel that you can easily handle the subject, then certainly go for it!!
