dear,
it was successfully held on 20 may 2012 .and expectantly next year also the exam will held on the same month.
Generally the notification for the upsc examination is released in the month of february and the exam is held in may or in the starting of june.
dear friend,
First of all i want to make you clear that IAS is not an exam it is a post which you can get after clearing UPSC CS(Civil Services) exam. CS preliminary exam is completely changed now it is also called CSAT(Civil Services Aptitude Test) exam. In this two papers are conducted which are asked from general studies and logical and reasoning Aptitude. Both papers are of objective type. Now there is no optional subjects in UPSC CSAT.
and same pattern would be remain in 2013.
Good Luck......
preliminary exam 2012 trend:
1)No direct questions were asked on current affairs. In previous years, there were more questions on direct current affairs, testing the factual knowledge of the candidates
2) More questions on Indian constitution . Nearly 15 questions from Indian polity and constitution
3) All traditional subjects were given importance, eg: polity, science etc
4) In recent years, questions on Environment & ecology are being given importance
CSAT:
1) compared to last year(2011), more questions on logical and reasoning such as syllogism were asked
2) ENglish language and comprehension questions form nearly 50% of the overall paper
TRend in 2013:
It cannot be predicted now,its too early to say which subject will be given importance. for a comparison in 2011, more questions from geography, but in 2012 more questions from polity and very less questions from geography.
