Dear Friend
The acronym IAS stands for the Indian Administrative services. The selection for this services is done through the most toughest entrance examination conducted by the Union Public service commission and the exam is called Civil services examination.
In simple words you can imagine the toughness by the fact that every year lacs of candidates appear for the exam and only 300 to 400 candidates are selected after the three stages of examinations that are :
>>Preliminary exam
>>Main exam
>>Personal interview.
Some important requirement for it :
>>You can appear for the exam if you have a bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized university and you age lies in the range of 21-30 years with upper age relaxed for the reserved category students.
Now coming to your query :
The no of chances that a candidate will get throughout his life to qualify for the Civil services exam id totally dependent upon the category in which he/she is born as per latest norms.
For example ,if you are from general category then you will get only four attempts for the exam.
For OBC candidates it is seven .
For SC/ST ,there is no limit that is they can attempt all the exam that fall within their age limit 21-35 years .
Hope the information helps you.If you have any more query ,you can leave your message here.
all the best
