* A Total of 1,57,649 candidates appeared in the exam from all the categories but the luck favoured only 693 of them and these 693 candidates became successful to crack the IES Exam completely.
* Out of the 693 candidates :
1) 248 candidates were from the Civil Engineering Stream.
2) 170 candidates were from Mechanical Engineering Stream.
3) 163 candidates were from Electronics & Communication Engineering stream.
4) 112 candidates were from Electronics & Electrical Engineering Stream.
So , if you are applying for the IES Exam , then you need ample preparation to crack this exam.
The Age limit for IES Exam is 21-30 years supposing that you belong to General Category.

Friend, according to me about 1.6 lakh candidates appeared in UPSC-IES 2011.Of these only 693 succeeded.
