    Dear Candidate,
-The UPSC CIVIL SERVICE EXAMS and the UPSC INDIAN FOREST SERVICE EXAMS are two very different exams conducted once in an year, each under two different months with varying syllabus and different eligibility criteria too.
-So by no means, are these two exams the same and therefore the number of attempts are separately counted in both the exams.
-If you fulfil the eligibility criteria of both these exams, then you can surely appear for these exams simultaneously.
-Just make sure your age lies within the Limit of 21-30 yEars, valid for both the exams, each time you appear for these. The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 yrs for SC/sTs and upto 3 yrs for OBCs.
-You can attempt each of these exams for a Maximum of 4 times.
    Good Luck.

    Dear,
The UPSC conducts both the CSAT (civil service aptitude test) examination and IFS (Indian Forest Service examination) separately. So the number of attempts will be counted separately. If you appear the CSAT examination once, then it will be counted as your first attempt for CSAT examination Similarly If You appear the IFS examination once, then it will be counted as your first attempt of IFS examinaiton separately. Best of Luck.

    dear candidate

the ias and the ifs are two different exams which are conducted by the upsc according to its prescribed date. Both the papers have different different qualification and eligibility for the appearing in the exam.

If any candidate appear for both the exams in the same year then is number of attempts will be count as one for each paper and will not consider two for both papers.

A candidate can appear for three more times for the both exams in the case of general category and if the candidate belong to the obc,sc,st then he/she can sit in the exams upto 7 attempts.

as both the exam's are different but a common thing among that both exams puts-up a criteria on the basis of number of attempt for the different categories separately
    for general-4
    obc -7
sc/st - any number of chances.

but both exams impose them separately i.e they will count your attempts separately viz:- 1 for IAS ,1 For IFS.

they didn't count it as combination (what you say "2")

be sure that both these exams,
Indian Forest Services Examination (IFS) and the Civil Services Examination are different exams conducted by upsc .

so the number of attempts are different for both.
as you are applying for both these exams ,
    under these circumstances
your attempts will be counted as one for the IFS exam and one for the CS exam distinctly.

number of attempts for a particular upsc exam depend on the category of the aspirant.
