Hello,
First of all, I am completely against of coaching institute. When you do the self study, you increase your creativity and analytical power.
I suggest first of all go through the syllabus
The most important aspects are:
Having generalised knowledge of world affairs: For this start reading good newspaper. The suggested reading can be Economic Times, The Hindu, The Indian Express etc. With this also read yearbook
Further, start preparing for aptitude test and practice it- just practice, practice and and practice as you have to do lot of things in minimum time. Find out your stronger area, less focus on them, find out your weaker area and focus on them more as practice makes man perfect
For other subjects, always prefer to read class X, XI and XII NCERT books. These books are good in resources and more than enough for preparation
Don't forget to maintain a diary which should have at least a full page for a day. This planner will help you to plan, record important event day by day.*
Never believe in the big talks like I have to study 16-20 hours and so on. Study smartly and even a 6 hours study is enough. Everyday before sleeping just memorize and recall whatever you have learnt. Note down if you are missing something. This will help you to improve your memory.*
Preferably form a study group and discuss about your learning.
Never forget to buy good career magazines like Pratiyogita Darpan, Competition Refresher, Chanakya IAS, Competition Success review read them and practice them continuously. This will help you to analyse. All the best
