Dear,
It is true that it is difficult to prepare any two examination simultaneously. But it can be possible to prepare for the both examination. For both IAS and GATE examination, you have to take your parent subject as the optional paper. Therefore you can prepare that subject for both the examination. And when it is the matter of General Study, you have to give some extra time for it. So dont worry, and work hard and prepare for the both. Best of Luck
Hi dear
GATE and Civil Services Exam are completely different Exams.
Both of them are extremely popular and require a different set of skills for qualification.
They are for different streams and so they open different carrier paths.
After qualifying GATE you are eligible to apply for M.Tech. or Phd. in IIT's , IISc and various other reputed Institutes.
However after Qualifying the Civil Services Exam you get a reputed Job as an IAS, IPS, IFS etc. These are the topmost civil servant Jobs.
So with this much diverse carrier choices in both the exam ,you need to choose wisely.
You can not simultaneously prepare for both IAS and GATE.
You will have to decide one most suitable for you and work accordingly.
You will need hard work with patience because none of these Exams is a cakewalk.
Hi Friend!
GATE and Civil Service are completely different paths.
You need to figure this out first.
Then, you'll understand that 'riding two horses at the same time is not good because you may fall down'
So define your goal and create a path towards it.
If you do not define a goal and create a path, it will lead you nowhere but to the middle of the ocean.
So choose only one and start preparing for that.!

Yes ! You can Prepare for both exams simultaneously. No is a lame man's word. There is nothing impossible in this world. Preparing for Civil Service is like diving into an ocean in search of pearl, you have to search hard, but you will also find more precious things while you dive for pearl. In similar way Civil service and GATE has one thing in common, "CSAT". If you prepare for CSAT well you can crack general Aptitude session in GATE easily and very little effort is required to answer the remaining question that you can do with just one month preparation as you have a very large time gap between GATE and CIVIL SERVICE examination. Impossible is nothing, just choose the life like you want to be.
All the Best..
