Hello,
I am sorry to say but do not ever read these sections in The Hindu "Say in Hindu focus on Magazine, Book Review, Literary Review, Business Review ". You will be wasting your time. The other mentioned sections are good to read. Develop analytical skills. Observe things happening around you: what, why, how. Who will be affected. What are positives and negatives. How it can be made better. Solution to problem is must in an essay. You do not require bombastic language in essay. Write in simple but effective language.
I give you an example. Read Yojana's first article of any month. That is generally written by a renowned personality and observe the simplicity of language. UPSC wants you to write an essay that can be understood and absorbed even by an average English knowing person(if you are writing in English).
Hope this helps
