Dear the exam pattern is following for UPSC exams :
Preliminary Exam - Objective type multiple choice questions and it has two different papers separated for - General knowledge, Quantitive Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, Current Affairs, General English test and this test is completely same for all applicants so there is no use of this subject in preliminary exam.
UPSC Mains Exam : Descriptive Type and writing questions would be there and you would be offered to choose your favorite subject for this exam but you will have to score minimum qualifying marks in preliminary exam then you will be eligible to apply for this exam and you can choose any one of these subjects :
>>> Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology, Indian History, Law, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Public Administration, Psychology, Statistics, Sociology, Zoology.
So your Agriculture Biotechnology course would be profitable for you in mains exam and you can choose agriculture or botany.
