CSAT stands for Civil Services Aptitude Test. Starting from 2011, CSAT will select candidates who can appear for Civil Services (Mains) Exam.

CSAT 2012 will be held on May 20, 2012.

The Notificaion for CSAT will be carried my all major newspapers of India on February 4, 2012.

Last date to apply is March 5, 2012

The CSAT has two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each and of two hours duration each. All questions are of objective type.

Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours



- Current events of national and international importance

- History of India and Indian National Movement

- Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.

- Indian Polity and Governance � Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.

- Economic and Social Development � Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.

- General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization

- General Science.



Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours



- Comprehension

- Interpersonal skills including communication skills

- Logical reasoning and analytical ability

- Decision making and problem solving

- General mental ability

- Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. -Class X level)

- English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

There is no specific cutoff declared by UPSC for any of the stages in the examination. Through an RTI application, cutoff for 2010 examination is revealed now. But that is of no use because pattern has changed completely now. to be on safer side, aim to score 50-55% marks in all the stages. ALL THE BEST

the cutoff varies from year to year.so it cannot be predetermined.
